In
the early stages of education the emphasis is on developing
cornerstone skills in language, reading and number work.
In the Reception year especially these skills are developed
in conjunction with a wide range of play activies involving
sand, water and construction toys.
These activities
build the children's self-confidence and teach them to work
together successfully. The classes, averaging 16-20, are supported
by well-qualified staff and housed in spacious, well-equipped
classrooms. Progress is monitored by the Form Teachers who
work closely with parents to form a strong home-school partnership
The child's
first experience in these Early Years can set the scene for
later achievement in school life. We provide a warm, caring
family atmosphere and a stimulating enviroment where the children
feel safe and happy and where they will grow in self-confidence
and learn to share and co-operate with each other. The small
classes are lucky enough to have their own separate building
with a wonderful outdoor environment providing a natural extension
to the classroom that can be used to enhance many areas of
the curriculum as well as being used for fun and excercise.
